Engine 5.0 litre V10

The Audi Le Mans concept car first

The Le Mans concept later became the R8 production model
seen at the Frankfurt Auto show in 2003 pays homage to the wins Audi took at the Le Mans 24 hour races in 2000, 2001 and 2003 with the R8 race car. The Le Mans lines are typically Audi, with a strong purposeful shoulder and easily identifiable grille.

The unusual silver inserts behind the doors hide air intakes, no doubt to cool and feed the rear mounted 5L V10. The unusual LED headlights adjust their beam direction and intensity during cornering to improve visibility.

The Le Mans concept's attractive aerodynamic body benefits from additional downforce at 74 mph when the rear spoiler automatically rises, the spoiler can also be activated manually.

The interior of the Le Mans is equipped with race inspired electronic displays, showing via GPS the circuit and the cars relative position, suspension settings and gear ratio.
